State of the Material Production Branches
Agroindustrial Complex
Taking into account the exclusive importance of the agricultural industry in providing the population of the republic with food stuffs, the Government constantly holds the problems of development of the given branch in the focus of interest.
In the current year 162 million roubles from the republican budget was allocated on support of agriculture, granting of production of animal industries was carried out, target republican programs were realized: on fur farming, animal breeding, seed potato, and increase of soil fertility. Under the guarantees of the Government commercial banks gave credits on 37.3 million roubles, the agricultural enterprises of the republic have received interest-free budgetary loans for realization of spring-field and harvest works for the sum of 20 million roubles from the republican budget. In the past year it was allocated 211 thousand cubic meters of timber reserve to the agricultural enterprises of the republic.
The accepted measures have allowed increasing the volume of manufacture of agricultural production by 8.7% to the level of 2000. The growth of volumes of manufacture in the greater degree was promoted by the growth of volumes of manufacture of crop production. As a whole on the republic it has been grown 151.6 thousand tons of potato, or 140% to the level of 2000 at average productivity of 144 centners per hectare (98 centners per hectare in 2000).
High parameters on productivity of potato have been achieved by the state unitary enterprise "Tolvuisky" - 250 centners per hectare, the state enterprise "Sortavalsky" - 224 centners per hectare, the close joint-stock company "Konchezerskoye" - 188 centners per hectare.
By all agricultural producers for the accounting period it has been made 11.2 thousand tons of cattle and birds in alive weight, what is by 3.8% more than the level of 2000, including 6.2 thousand tons in agricultural productions, by 16.2% more.
At the state unitary enterprise battery farm "Petrozavodskaya" specializing on manufacture of meat of broilers it has been realized 1898 tons of production (in alive weight) within 2001, what by 39% is more than the level of 2000. The average weight of the slaughtered bird has increased up to 1.5 kg.
The other quality indicators were also improved considerably: the daily average additional weights, terms of fattening, the charge of forages has decreased.
Growth of volumes of eggs manufacture has allowed increasing the average per capita consumption of eggs from 177 pieces in 2000 up to 183 pieces in 2001, or by 3%.
In 2001 there were positive shifts in the branch of fur farming, for the first time for the last decade the high output of puppies of all kinds of animals has received. The beast economies have received young growth of mink by 54% and polar fox by 21% more than at the level of 2000. High parameters on the output of young growth of mink has been achieved at the Joint-Stock Company "Priazhinskoye" (4.7 puppies per regular female) and municipal unitary enterprise "Berezovskoye" (4.03), young growth of polar fox by the agricultural farm "Vidlitsa" (8.3) and Joint-Stock Company "Priazhinskoye" (7.9.)
In the republic it has been made 81.3 thousand tons of milk, or 94.9% to the level of 2000. The reasons of decrease was reduction of the livestock of cows in agricultural productions by 6% and also the low efficiency of cows in some economyies. The milk yields less than 2000 kg per cow have been received by the economies of Vepps national volost, Pitkarantsky, Lahdenpohsky and Pudozhsky regions. At the same time the following economies achieve high results annually: the Joint-Stock Company "Priazhinskoye" - 5270 kg, experimental industrial economy "Vilga" - 4270 kg. For wintering in agricultural productions it has been prepared 48.1 thousand tons of fodder units. Thus preparation of hay has increased by 12% to the level of 2000. Quality of forages is much higher than in the previous year.
The big help to the agricultural industrial producers is rendered by the industrial enterprises of the republic. On Open Society Petrozavodskmash jointly with the Open Society "Karelagroservis" in the current year it has been made 20 complete sets of soil-cultivating machines. In the Open Company "Energolestrak" the production of tractor carriages, spare parts for the cattle-breeding equipment and machines for application of fertilizers has been mastered.
Despite of growth of manufacture of agricultural production, position of the branch remains difficult, 27 of 51 agricultural enterprises worked at a loss in 2001, what makes 53%. Not in all economies of the republic it was possible to stop the slump in production, still there is the reduction of volumes of manufacture and deterioration of the financial position in Lahdenpohsky, Pudozhsky and Pitkjarantsky regions.
The average monthly wage in agricultural productions have increased in 2001 by 36% and has made 2051 roubles.
Reprocessing industry
The enterprises of food branch in 2001 have increased the volumes of manufacture and have provided growth of index of physical volume of industrial production by 19% to the level of the last year. Growth of manufacture by 1.2% has been achieved in whole-milk production, by 80% in sausage products, by 25% in meat semifinished items, by 2.5% in mixed fodders, and by 9.8% in commodity food and fish production.
Due to introduction of modern types of the process equipment the assortment of production considerably extends. The Open Company "Petrozavodsk dairy combine "Slavmo" has mastered the dairy production with biologically active additives including vitaminized drink "Sila" and fruit drinks of cowberry and cranberry "Marja". The Joint-Stock Company "Medvezhiegorsky molokozavod" working in the mode of the diversified food enterprise has begun to produce the iodinated kefir for the first time in the republic. In 2001 the additional capacities for processing milk by capacity of 10 tons per day have been put into operation at the Joint-Stock Company "Priazhinskoye". Growth of manufacture of meat products in comparison with 2000 is basically related to the stable work to the Open Society "Karelian meat-packing plant". Now the enterprise makes more than 100 types of meat products. Further growth of manufacture of meat production is planned due to reconstruction of the shop of meat semifinished items at the Open Society "Karelian meat-packing plant".
Release of bakery production for 2001 has made 35.2 thousand tons, what makes 102% to the level of the last year. But of the 15 large and average enterprises of the baking industry 8 enterprises including the greatest backlog Open Society "Kondopozhsky bakery", the municipal unitary enterprise "Vartsilsky bakery", the state enterprise "Kostomukshshsky bakery" have lowered manufacture of bread and bakery products. Within the framework of the plan of measures of the Government in the field of healthy meals it has been made 750 tons of the bakery and confectionery products enriched with food additives at the enterprises food and process industry with the purpose of prevention of deficiency of vitamins and iodine at the population of the republic.
As a whole in the republic for 2001 it has been made 140 thousand decaliters of beer, what by 11% is below the level of the last year. The basic share of manufacture of beer belongs to the Open Society "Petrozavodsk beer factory", which for 2001 has reduced manufactures of beer by 27% to the appropriate period of the last year. In order of financial improvement and steady work of the enterprise, the administration of the Open Society "Petrozavodsk beer factory" develops the plan of modernisation of the enterprise till 2004.
The enterprises of the alcoholic beverage industry have worked unstable in 2001.
Manufacture of alcoholic production was reduced by 2.5% because of decrease of volumes by Petrozavodsk distillery "Petrovsky". At the same time the Open Company "Prionezhsky distillery" in 2001 has increased manufacture of alcoholic production by 1.76 thousand decaliters. As usual at these enterprises the main problem lies in the low use of capacities, thus, on the branch of the federal state unitary enterprise "Rossprtprom" the distillery "Petrovsky" 29.3% of the capacity is loaded, at the Open Company "Prionezhsky distillery" - 41.6%.
In order to stabilize the production of the food branch and increase its volumes at the enterprises of the food-processing industry actions of modernisation and development of the branch for 2002-2006 have been developed.
Fish industry
In 2001 the fish and seafoods catches has made 68.2 thousand tons and has increased in comparison with 2000 by 11.8%. The increase of the catch is achieved due to both oceanic and internal reservoirs' craft. On the oceanic craft the growth of catch has been achieved due to commissioning new modern trawlers by small enterprises.
The organization of purchase of raw material by the Karelian fish factory for industrial processing from the businessmen and small enterprises has played the positive role in the increase of catch on internal reservoirs.
By the fish-breeding economies in 2001 it has been brought up to 2.0 thousand tons of trout, that by 17 percents is more than in 2000. In total for economies of the republic the centralized deliverings have made 1.1 thousand tons of fish forages, about 55% of the required amount (about 25% in 2000).
Release of commodity food fish production in natural expression, including canned food fish, has made 48.1 thousand tons. Growth to the level of 2000 has made 4.3 thousand tons or 9.8%. Manufacture of cooled fish has increased by 26%, fishes of special splicing - in 3.8 times, salty - in 1.9 times, culinary products - in 2.6 times, etc. Manufacture of feeding meal has increased by 1.7 times. At the plan of deliveries of 2500 tons of forages for the beast-breding economies of the republics, actually has been delivered 3444 tons of forages in 2001.
Despite of the general increase to the level of 2000 of volumes of manufacture on the branches, the large and average enterprises have admitted decrease of volumes by 7.4 thousand tons (by 31%). Backlog is admitted basically due to decrease of volumes of extraction and production of the Open Society "Karelrybflot". On the given enterprise the Government produced concrete measures on completion of the admitted backlog. As a result of accepted measures the rates of slump in production by the end of the year were reduced, the enterprise receives profit of its economic activities.
The significant place in the volumes of made fish production belongs to the small enterprises, their share constantly grows. So, if in 2000 the densities of small enterprises in manufacture of fish production in natural expression made 34.6% then in 2001 it was 54.5%.
In 2001 decrease of release of canned food to the level of 2000 by 29.5% is admitted, which has happened, basically, due to reduction of release by Open Society "Karelian fish factory" and by the Joint-Stock Company "Sortavalsky fish factory" due to reconstruction of canning manufacture.
The positive moment of work of the branch is the increase of deliveries of fish production at the consumer market of Karelia in comparison with 2000 by 58.8%.
Decrease of tax loading and improvement of the financial condition of the enterprises has allowed to involve investments and to put own means in development of the branch. In total in 2001 in the branch it has been allocated 300.6 million roubles of investments, including leasing payments on purchase of obtaining fleet. Basically, it is the own means of the enterprises (94%).
In 2001 within the framework of the republican Program of construction and modernization of fishery fleet the enterprise of fish branch have continued updating obtaining fleet.
It has been purchased 4 modern trawlers. Means are allocated for purchase and modernization of the ship equipment, thus the factory is acquired for production from crabs, it will allow to process the delicious raw material on the spot. Construction of fleet of small size for the coastal craft and extraction on internal reservoirs is continued, thus the 2 "Gurmant" ships are acquired, construction at the Open Company "The Shipyard plus" of the fishery vessel "Ivanych" for the Open Society "Karelrybflot" has begun.
In 2001 it was allocated 4.7 million roubles for rendering the state support on development of commodity fish culture.
