In February 8 - 11, 1999 the State Committee for Land Survey and Land Resources of Republic Karelia welcomed the consultants of the National Land Survey of Finland within the framework of the project "The Land Registration in Karelia, Russia" (Tacis PCP3/FIN-7-R).
During the visit of consultants of NLS of Finland the following questions were discussed:
- Accepting of the equipment.
The chairman of Goskomzem RK, Boris Kusakin accepted the equipment, procured for the realization project, from the representative of a NLS of Finland, the manager of the Land Survey Bureau of the Kumenlakso area Matti Kantonen.
- Project monitoring.
The Tacis monitoring representative in Raisa Golovchanskaya had conducted a monitoring of the project in the framework of Tacis monitoring program.
- The reports of the participants of the project.
The reports of the participants of the project were listened to. During the discussion the answers to the questions of the specialists of NLS of Finland and Goskomzem RK were given.
- Software questions.
The report of Mr. Matti Kantonen was listened to. Taking into consideration that the development of the new registration program "Kuntiainen" may require more resources than buying of one of already used in some regions of Russia the working committee of the project has decided to invite to Petrozavodsk the authors of the registration programs IBS "Register" (Moscow), "Balt-Ross" and "Cadastre" (St. Petersburg) with the purpose of selecting and adopting the program, most adequate to tasks of the project.
- The schedule was corrected.
The schedule for 1999 was discussed and updated. The education of the staff of Goskomzem RK is scheduled. It is decided to conduct one of the seminars in Finland in September 1999, during a GIS-expo that is conducted by the NLS of Finland annually. It is also decided to invite several members of the Government of Republic of Karelia and the heads of local governments of the districts, participating in the project to get acquainted with the new technologies, used in NLS of Finland.
