The visits of the General Consulate of Finland in St.Petersburg delegation
and the Governor of the Finnish Oulu province
On June 1-3 the General Consulate of Finland in St.Petersburg delegation lead by the General Consul Harry Helenius visited Petrozavodsk. The goal of the visit is to prepare the official visit of the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov to Finland and negotiations held with the leadership of the republic and Petrozavodsk, and also with the Representative of the President RF in the Republic of Karelia V. N. Ushakov on the problems of multilateral cooperation between Karelia and Finland. On June, 2 H. Helenius took part in the opening ceremony of the International Energy Forum
"Power Industry50". In the program of the visit there is also presentation of Finland State rewards to the citizens of Karelia H.A. Perelainen and L.V. Suni. The delegation is planning to visit the town of Kondopoga where the Finnish diplomat is to meet the Head of the local power body A.I. Turkenichev and to visit АО "Kondopoga". The Consul of the Trade Mission of Finland in St.Petersburg, a member of the Finnish delegation Mrs.Maryatta Punin is supposed to hold meetings and negotiations with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Relations RK, the Chamber of Commerce of Karelia and Association for small and medium sized business support.
At the same time Petrozavodsk is visited by the Governor of the Finland Province of Oulu Eino Siuruainen. He is going to participate in the International Energy Forum "Power Industry 50",and on the 3rd of June is planning to meet with the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov. In the course of the meeting they are to discuss the problems of the border cooperation between the province of Oulu and the Republic of Karelia.
Biography information.
Harry Gustav HELENIUS was born in 1946, in Oulu. After graduation from the university he began building his diplomatic career. He has worked in MFA of Finland and in diplomatic representatives abroad ( in France, Spain, Austria and in the Finnish Consulate in Moscow).On the 1st of December was appointed the General Consul of Finland in St.Petersburg. He is a Doctor of Philosophy. Married, has two children.
Eino Olavi SIURIAINEN was born on the 20th of March in Pudasyarvi (in the northern Finland) into a peasant family. Graduated from the Oulu university in 1970, majoring in Geography and in 1976 became a PhD. Worked in education and research. The author of more than 100 publications on Geography. In 1985 was elected the Chairman of the Geographic Society of Finland.
In 1987 was elected as a member of Parliament from the centrist party. Since 1992 has been the Governor of the
Married, has a son.
