Consul the General of Italy Visit

September 20-23 the delegation of Consul the General of Italy in St. Petersburg headed by Consul the General Salvatore Pinna visited Petrozavodsk. The goal of the official Mr. Pinna`s visit was to get familiar with the republic and to hold the negotiations with the authorities of the Republic of Karelia on the issues of cooperation between Italy and the Republic of Karelia. In the course of the visit meetings and negotiations with the Deputy of the Head of the Government RK A.Krieger, with the leaders of the Houses of the Legislative Assembly RK, in the ministries of Foreign Relations and Economics, in the Chamber of Commerce were held. Besides, the Italian guests visited the milk mill "Slavmo", where the Italian ice-cream production line is put into practice, and ZAO "Karelian Souveniers". In Italian diplomat's opinion the Republic of Karelia and Italy have all the potentials for cooperation work in woodproccessing, stoneprocessing and food industry for the benefit of both parties. At the meeting in the MFR RK it was suggested to the Italian party to hold "The Week of Italian Economics" next year. In his turn the Director of the Trade Exchange Department of the General Consulate of Italy D. Mafodda invited the representatives of Karelia to participate in Russian-Italian meeting on economic cooperation development between our countries which is to be held in St. Petersburg at the end of the year. The parties also come to the agreement on the issue of economic information exchange beneficial for both parties.

Apart with the official part of the visit the Italian guests visited the preseve-museum "Kizhi" and the performance of the Petrozavodsk Musical Theater "The Servant of the two Masters" (based on the classic comedy K.Goldoni).
