The exhibiton founders: Ministry of education and on youth affairs of the Republic of
Karelia, Karelian phylantropic Katanandov`s fund "To Karelian children".
The organizers : Republican center of culture and leisure of studying youth, Pedagogical study on educational institutions of the Ministry of culture RK, the Petrozavodsk city exhibition hall.
The goal of the exhibition: promoting of the traditional Karelian handicraft on the base of new ideas, technologies and materials; stimulating of children creativity (paiting, graphics) dedicated to their native land; seeking for talanted children.
The exhibition participants: children and teenagers at the age of 7-18 from all districts and towns of the republic. Actually these children are taking courses in the institutions of extra education (special art schools, studios, handicraft centers and Palaces of children creativity and so on).
The exhibition "My Karelia- from the past to the future!"is one more link in the chain of traditional festivals of children fine and decorative-applyied arts held by the Ministry of education and youth affairs once in three years. The exhibition boasts the best works made by young authors during 1997-2000.
The exhibition was held in several stages: about 20 thousand authors participated in educational institutions, in city and district exhibitions. The exhibition houses more than 1000 works, marked by a good artistic eye, children ingenuous, imagery, original color and composition decision, developing ethnocultural traditions of the republic.
Karelian embroidery, laces, gobelins, things made of birchbark, wood carving, ethnic costume, dolls,
stuffed toys, patchwork, panitings, graphics, works of mixed techinics were presented at the exhibition. Dibersity attracts children, parents, teachers, artists. It is interesting for everybody who loves and respects the culture of Karelian republic and children creativity.
On the verge of the Third millenium our children show us that they master traditions and secrets of the arts of the previous generations. They love and respect the beauty of their native land.
The members of the Artist Council, painters V. Zorin, N. Kosheleva, B. Topuria and the teachers of
the Republican School of folk arts handicraft helped to organise the exhibition.
