Vladimir Putin and Patriarch of All-Russia Alexii II Will Visit Carnival in Petrozavodsk

PETROZAVODSK, April 5. /The Itar-Tass corr. Vladimir Zlobin/. The carnival procession downtown of Petrozavodsk is supposed to be the most scenic event of 80th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia foundation held in June. The agenda of the celebration also includes concerts, exhibitions, contests. The Itar-Tass correspondent was told about celebration schedule in the Ministry of culture RK.

A week ago President of Russia Vladimir Putin promised to the Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov at their Kremlin meeting to the come to the celebration, which will give a special status to the holiday. Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Alexii II also received the invitation.He is going to bless the largest orthodox temple in the republic - the cathedral of Alexander Nevsky. The restoraration of the cathedral is nearly accomplished.

Among the guests there also will be the Prime-minister of Finland Paavo Lillonen, governors of the adjacent regions, sister-towns delegations.

Many celebreties are coming to Petrozavodsk including an outstanding ballerina Ilze Liepa, the "Lyube" ansamble, folk ansambles from Sweden and Finland.

Petrozavodsk Transfers to Power Supply Saving Technologies in Municipial Economy

PETROZAVODSK, April 5. /The Itar-Tass corr. Vladimir Zlobin/. There are only 8 towns in Russia where the municipial reform is being carried out at rapid rates. They are supported by the International bank of reconstruction and development with a good-term credit. A meeting of administration representatives of these towns was held in Petrozavodsk. The issues of the reform are being discussed.

Avraam Sklyarsky, the First deputy of the Head of the administration of the capital of Karelia tells about the first results of the experiment having been held for some years in Petrozavodsk:

"Three years ago we took a 23 mln dollar credit at the world bank. The money were spent on research work to find the most bottle-neck problems in the municipial economy. Last year we started accomplishing the project. The power supply saving technologies implementation is a priority based on the highly- developed western countries experience."

So fae the tenants of 11 multistory houses have been enjoying new technologies. The central heating system is being regulated by automatic devices. Room temperature is being held in optimum mode and does not depend on the temperature outside. As a result a real savings were achieved.

This year 36 houses will be priviledged to use a new system. According to the project 200 residential houses will boast the priviledge of using the system.
