Today in Georgievsky Hall of the Kremlin the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin Awarded the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov with the Order of Honor
The Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia was favored with this award for his great contribution in social-economic development of the republic.
Sergey Katanandov commented upon the event that he considers the award as the sign of recognition of the republic's success, and also "as an advance that he has to work off".
The President RF also presented with state awards the group of states men, scholars, military men, cultural workers. As the President said "they displayed their best civil and professional qualities" and their activities could be looked upon as "a standard of service to Motherland".
The President of Yakutia Mikhail Nickolayev, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences Pavel Bunich, vice-president of Russian football union Nikita Simonyan, academician Leonid Abalkin, the leader of the television program "Travellers` Club" Yury Senkevich were also honored with state awards.
