Official Visit of the Delegation of the Republic of Karelia to the Province of Tromse (Norway)
Today the official delegation of the Republic of Karelia has arrived in Tromse (Norway). The Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov, the chairmen of the Houses of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia Vladimir Shilnikov and Nickolai Levin, the Minister of foreign affairs Valery Shlyamin are part of the delegation.
The program envisions negotiations between our republic and Tromse for 2000-2002 signing an agreement on further cooperation work in the areas of culture, education, public health care, research, entrepreneurship, sport and tourism, information exchange.
The cooperation between the Republic of Karelia and the Norwegian province has been started since May 1994. At that time the first Agreement between the Republic of Karelia and Tromse was signed.
Today the Karelian delegation has visited the university, the regional hospital in Tromse and the National telemedicine center. Tomorrow the delegation is going to visit some of Norwegian enterprises of the towns of Finsnes, Serreisa and Shevegan.
