Interdepartmental Group of PetrGU Students Got Certificates
On May 21, the final meeting of the interdepartmental group of students of Petrozavodsk State University, trained by Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia was held in the government of the republic.
The group was formed in October 1999, and it included the most diligent and productive fourth-year students of all the departments. As a result of a severe competition and screening, 48 young people were selected. They kept studying all the subjects according to their curricula, and at the same time, they started attacking the disciplines of state management.
 The course has been conducted for two years. The students have got familiar with the Concept of social-economic development of the Republic of Karelia, the structure and relations of different power levels, with economic potentials of the republic, the issues of the interregional and international cooperation, legislation, technologies of management, business planning, and information technologies. The students were able to take part in seminars, discussions, group projects on the issues of the republican development, visited enterprises, practiced in the power bodies of the Republic of Karelia.
Lectures and workshops have been conducted by Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia, his deputies, the members of the government, the leaders of the houses of the Legislative Assembly, Valentina Pivnenko, deputy of the State Duma from the Republic of Karelia, scholars of the Karelian research center.
35 students have graduated, 9 of them have got the diplomas cum laude.
On Monday, May 21 in the hall of the government, the ceremony of delivering the graduation certificates was held. The certificates have been delivered by Pavel Chernov, First Deputy Head of the Government RK and Victor Vassilyev, Rector of Petrozavodsk State University.
Anatoly Voronin, First vice-rector of the university, has made the assessment of the group achievements, and was very positive about the results of their education. He also pointed out that enrollment of the students was very high, which means that they were really interested in the course. He believes that the involment in the course helped students overcome psychological bares and dispute their point of view at any level.
Summing up, Victor Vassilyev, Rector of Petrozavodsk State University, said that with the beginning of a new academic year, a new group of students would be selected to take additional special program of state
management.
