The Sitting of the Working Group of the State Council on Education Reform Completed in Petrozavodsk
Yesterday the sitting of the Working group of the State Council on education reform, held under chairmanship of Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia, member of the State Council Presidium, was completed.
"We have gone through a very important stage in the Working group activities," S. Katanandov has summed up. "We have agreed upon the basic structure of the future document in principle, having consulted a lot of experts in education in Russia. The discussion has been constructive and productive."
The working title of the document under discussion is "Educational policy of the Russian state." "We have a lot of experience in the area, what is left is to generalize and systematize it," Sergey Katanandov said.
During the sitting, the editing group and some working subgroups, which are to work on various sections of the document, have been established. The sitting of the editing group has been scheduled on June 6. It will be held in Moscow. Then the members of the Working group are expected to meet in Moscow to discuss the draft of the document. Then the draft will be sent to all the subjects of the federation, and in the beginning of July a meeting will be held in Moscow, aimed at the amending and correcting the document. The final variant of the document should be presented by the August 1 to the President of Russia.
