A meeting with coordinator of Russian-Norwegian projects in the sphere of agriculture of the province of Finnmark took place in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the Republic of Karelia

A meeting with Nedzad Zdralovic, coordinator of Russian-Norwegian projects in the sphere of agriculture of the province of Finnmark, with the guidance of Grigory Manuilov took place in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the Republic of Karelia on November, 19.

Experts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the republic, Alexei Filin, Head of Norwegian Barents Secretariat Murmansk office, and Boris Labudin, Professor of the Department of Engineering Constructions and Architecture of Institute of Construction and Architecture of Northern (Arctic) Federal University, Arkhangelsk, have taken part in the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was discussion of prospects for cooperation in the sphere of agriculture for northern territories and participation of the Republic of Karelia in the project Young farmers – the future of agriculture in the Arctic areas in which Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions, as well as the Republic of Komi will also take part.

Norwegian Barents Secretariat working in close cooperation with administrative bodies of Russian territories within the Barents Region supports lots of various joint Russian-Norwegian projects.

Development of cooperation in the sphere of agriculture is one of the most complicated, though one of the most challenging spheres for northern territories. The Norwegian party is ready to share its best practices in this sphere, as northern Norway has amassed a wealth of experience in development of small family farms, while the Republic of Karelia has got no family farms at the moment. The main goal of this project is informational support and development of small meat and milk production farms run by young families.

Participation in this project requires additional consideration, and the management of the ministry has expressed interest in it.
