Nikolay Patrushev Discussed Key Issues of Regional Development with Artur Parfenchikov

Today, as part of the visit to Petrozavodsk, Nikolay Patrushev, the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, visited the Petrozavodskmash plant, the largest machine building enterprise of the Republic and held a meeting with Artur Parfenchikov, the Head of the region.

The following topics were the focus of the conversation: the development of education, the reconstruction of the airport Petrozavodsk, cooperation with the province of Fujian, investment in mono-cities. Artur Parfenchikov told Nikolai Patrushev about the construction of new educational institutions. For example, in 2017 the construction of a school with all comfortable conditions for training will be completed in the village of Ledmozero. As part of the instruction of the Government of Russia, the list of schools that will be built in Karelia in the next few years is being formed. "Our goal is to prevent the practice of reduction of the number of schools in small settlements," the Head of the region noted.

During the discussion, the Security Council Secretary inquired about the plans for the reconstruction of the Petrozavodsk airport and noted its good runway. As Arthur Parfenchikov said that in accordance with the agreement with the company Siberia, daily air service to Moscow is established, and in the near future, an interaction with the investor will begin regarding the construction of a new terminal for 300 seats, which will open in late 2018.

At the meeting, the oncoming cooperation of Karelia with the Chinese province of Fujian was discussed. "Important areas are tourism and energy. This is worth paying attention to. It is necessary that the interaction plan be comprehensive and give impetus to the development of the Republic," said Nikolai Patrushev. The Acting Head of Karelia said that now the work is conducted as part of the general agreement, and in the near future, it is planned to sign agreements on specific issues of cooperation, for example, in the field of wind energy. As for tourism, the work is also underway in this direction, and soon Chinese tour operators are expected to visit Karelia. Last week, a series of programs about Karelia and the tourist attractions in the region were launched at the China Central Television channel.

An important direction of development is attraction of investments to the Republic, and, first of all, to mono-cities. Artur Parfenchikov informed Nikolay Patrushev about the conclusion of an additional agreement between the Government of Karelia and the Mono-cities Development Fund for the construction of the engineering infrastructure of the industrial park in the village of Nadvoitsy. The document provides for a number of changes, including the completion of the construction of the engineering infrastructure of the industrial site by the end of 2017. In addition, the list of types of economic activities allowed for residents who are ready to set their production in Nadvoitsy has been expanded. In the near future, the Republic also plans to get an agreement on the creation of a zone of economic development in Kondopoga.

Before the meeting, an excursion took place at the Petrozavodskmash production site, which was held by Igor Kotov, the general director of JSC AEM-Technology. The managers visited the main production units of the enterprise, estimated the scale of modernization, got acquainted with the equipment produced by the plant for nuclear power plants and oil and gas industry, wind power and machine-tool construction. During the visit, questions about assistance to domestic machine-building enterprises that produce high-tech equipment that provides technological and economic security for our country were raised.
