A sitting of the Coordination Council of the Association of economic interaction between "North-West" regions took place in Petrozavodsk
Today in the capital of Karelia at 10 o'clock in the morning a sitting of the Coordination Council of the Association of economic interaction between "North-West" regions started it's work. 11 Russian governors with the president of the Association at the head and a mayor of Saint Petersburg Vladimir Yakovlev took part in the work of the summit
Association "North -West" comprises 12 provinces of the Russian Federation including Karelia. It's main goal is to work out programs and projects for different regions involving foreign investments to help the development of transportation, road construction, power engineering, farming and other industries.
AT the regular sitting of the Coordination Council it's participants were offered to discuss questions relating to the strategies of road construction in the region, condition and perspectives of breeding animals for fur industry, development of united power system of the north-west of Russia and also to evaluate the results of the work achieved in the past year and to discuss plans for the year 2000.
The acting president of the Russian Federation and the Head of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin is expected to join the summit after lunch break an speak to the governors.
A capital of Karelia is preparing for a visit of Vladimir Putin
The acting President of the Russian Federation, the Head of the Government of Russia Vladimir Putin is coming to Petrozavodsk today. The acting president is planning to visit a Republican Hospital for Children and one of the leading enterprises of the city "Petrozavodskmash".
Vladimir Putin is also planning to take part in the work of the Association of the Coordination Council for economic interaction between "North-West" regions of Russia together with some members of the Russian government and the heads of some leading Russian ministries. The visit will last for one day only. The head of the executive power will fly to St.Petersburg in the evening of the same day.
