Viktor N.Maslyakov was born on February 9th of 1960. He is the youngest of three brothers. His father worked as a mechanical engineer in the wood branch. His mother has worked all her life as a director in the kindergarten.
Right after graduating from school in the settlement of Borovoi of Kalevalsky district in 1977 he began to work as the carpenter in Yushkozersky state timber industry enterprise.
He has entered the faculty of agriculture of Petrozavodsk State University majoring in agronomy, and graduated having obtained the speciality of academic agronomist. He has defended
the dissertation on "Management of the project" in the Moscow State Academy of Management. He has received a scientific degree of Ph.D. in economics.
He has passed a labour way from the foreman in the state farm named after Zaitsev up to the director of this collective, from 1993 to 1998 supervised another dairy combine "Slavmo", then from 1998 to 2001 he was the First Deputy Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia. Since 2001 he is the general director of Timber Industry holding company "Karellesprom". Twice he was elected the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of I and II convocations from the city of Petrozavodsk. On May 6th of 2002 was elected the Head of the Local Government of Petrozavodsk.
