In 1931 the All-Karelian congress of Soviets and the Soviet of the National Commissioners of the KASSR has accepted the decree on organization of the Karelian state pedagogical institute. The institute had been solemnly open on November 8, 1931. 48 persons had been admitted as the first-year students.
