The Meeting on Kizhi
April, 26 the Head of the Government of Karelia Sergey Katanandov conducted a meeting on preparation for the tourist season of the historical-architectural objects of the island Kizhi.
The Substitute of the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Nickolai Tchernenko, the Minister of Culture Tatyana Kalashnick, the Minister of Foreign Relations Valery Shlyamin, The Chairman of the State Committee on Sport and Tourism Eugeniy Shorochov, the Counsellor of the Head of the Government on Tourism, Foreign Relations and Culture Igor Zototchkin and the Director of the preserve-museum
"Kizhi"Elvira Yemelyanova took part in the meeting. The Head of the Government was not satisfied by the course of prparation of Kizhi to a tourist season of 1999. The most important problem - how to learn to earn money for the museum keeping and for the republic in general - has not been solved yet.
Last year the tourist season gave profit of 3,3 mln rbl. This year the expected profit is 16,5 mln rbl, the growth of a dollar to a rouble considering. In connection with Balkan crisis and closing the Danudbe trips
the number of tourists willing to visit Karelia could be incresing.The most important problem is to provide high quality tourist reception and to control the money.
The participants of the meeting came to the conclusion that it is necessary to organize a new state structure on a republican level, able to coordinate and control the tourist business.
"The republican tourism should be organised to please our guests", - highlighted Sergey Katanandov. The Head of the Government also gave an errand to prepare the project of resolution on the final results of the meeting.
