The Head of the Government didn`t give permission to work the uranium-vanadium deposit in Srednyay Padma

On May,6 the Head of the Government of Karelia Sergey Katanandov visited the uranium-vanadium deposit in Srednyay Padma. He was accompanied by ecologists, geologosts and MES representatives. Segrey Katanandov became aware of the local population oppinions. Then a meeting was held in Medvezhegorsk, where the Head of the Government declared his decision: the oppinions of the population and scientists considering and in connection with lack of clear ecological examination of all the consequences of the supposed working, the government will not give permission to work the deposit in Srednyaya Padma.To Sergey Katanandov`s mind the research should be continued. The Head of the Government set a task to carry out a comparative analysis of the suggested technology as it is being done in industrially developed countries and give scientific long-term prognosis all the consequences of working out the deposit in this unique region in the vicinities of the Onega Lake.
