Working Group Sitting on Business Cooperation Between the Northern Regions of Russia and Norway
On may 22 the VI sitting of the Working group on business cooperation between the Northern regions of Russia and Norway was held in St. Petersburg. Boris Zhitny, Deputy Head of the Government RK is a member of the group.
Since early 90-s, Norway has been one of the most important partners in foreign economic activities of our republic. External trade of the Republic of Karelia with Norway made $36,2 mln, including $20,7 mln of export. The export structure is as follows: 80% fish, 13,5% iron ore, 5,8 % timber. Our republic imports chemical products and fuel.
P>Five enterprises with Norwegian investors participation have been registered on the territory of the Republic of Karelia, but at the beginning of 2001 only two of them were functioning. They are: JSC
"Karelian Seaproductes" and "Norkar LTD". So far as the January 2001, the investors have allocated $3,6 in the development of the companies.
The Working group is going to discuss the issues of further investment and economic cooperation between the Northern regions of Russia and Norway.
