Success of Karelian Layout at the Exhibition in Germany
May 21-25 the world largest exhibition of wood-processing equipment "LIGNA+2001" was held
in Hannover (Germany). More than 1925 exponents from more than 40 countries have been housed.
The exhibition area was 145 000 square km.
The Republic of Karelia participated in the exhibition for the second time. In the republic a special organizing committee had been established, headed by V. Shlyamin, Minister of foreign relations RK. It has worked about a year, making preparations for the exhibition. As a result, the Karelian layout with the exhibition area 60 square km, presenting 14 Karelian enterprises, has been highly estimated by the Organizing committee of the exhibition, and was recognized as one of the most original and rich in content. It has attracted attention of many visitors. More than 300 registered negotiations with foreign companies,
presentation of the republic, press-conference were held. The absolute success of the Karelian layout was recognized at the final press-conference in the Hannover Congress-center.
The official delegation was led by I. Shurupov, Deputy Head of the Government of Karelia, Minister of economy RK.
Practically all Karelian enterprises-participants of the exhibition have managed to get beneficial business-proposals and have been satisfied with their participation in "LIGNA+2001". The official delegation RK and representatives of the Karelian enterprises took very active part in the conference "German-Russian dialog: new possibilities for financing export equipment for Russia."
In the course of the exhibition activities, the official delegation has been received by the leadership of the "Deuche Messe AG" company- the organizers of "LIGNA+2001". The issues of further cooperation work with German machine-making companies have been discussed. The Karelian delegation received the official invitation to participate in "LIGNA+2003".
The Karelian layout was visited by the vice-president of Moscow municipal bank "Bank of Moscow", and the issues of collaboration work have been discussed.
