The University, Government and Finnish Friends will Build Technopolis in the Capital of the Republic of Karelia
June 7 Eino Siuruainen, Governor of Oulu (Finland) arrived in Petrozavodsk to take part in celebration of the Day of the republic.
In the morning, Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia and Eino Siuruainen met with the leadership of Petrozavodsk State University. They discussed the issues of cooperation between Petrozavodsk and Oulu universities.
Victor Vasylyev, Rector of Petrozavodsk university, said that the two universities were playing a very important role in cooperation work between the Republic of Karelia and Finland. He named the current project on creating the affiliate of PetrGU in Kostomuksha, technically assisted by the Finnish party. June 7 a videoconference between the affiliate and the main campus was held. In near future the university students with the help of new technologies will be able to communicate not only with the Karelian towns but also with Oulu. Victor Vasylyev told Eino Siuruainen and Sergey Katanandov that the university is planning to create innovation-technological center "Technopolis", which is to be located in Drevlyanka, one of the districts of Petrozavodsk.
"The main thing in this project," Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia underlined, "is to increase the educational standards. That's why we are proposing new information technologies. We are in dire need of young, highly qualified professionals in international relations, tourism, alternative enterprises. With the help of new technologies we will manage to teach students who will bring fresh blood in traditions of cross-border cooperation."
The cars for the veterans
June 8, at the day of celebrating the Day of the republic, Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia awarded 20 veterans with the automobiles "Oka". The ceremony was held in the Autoservice center "Auto." 103 cars, made specially for hadicapped people, have been handed to the invalids and war veterans since last year in accordance with the Presidential and Republican programs.
The Division of Artificial Kidney Open in the Republican Hospital
The hemodialysus division has been open in the republican hospital. Six devices have been installed, and there will be six more fixed in near future.
As Alexander Zuyev, Chief of the division said, the first patients might be treated here in July. About 65 patients are waiting when the facilities will be put into operation..
The division was visited by Sergey Katanandov, Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia and Eino Siuruainen, Governor of Oulu (Finland).
They also participated in the unveiling of the monument to doctors, sacrifiesed their lives at the battlefields. The plague on the monument reads: " People's health is a priority."
