PETROZAVODSK, June 6. /Correspondent of ITAR-TASS Vladimir Zlobin/. In Karelia today celebrations on the occasion of the Day of the Republic are held. In 1920 All-Union Central executive Committee of the RSFSR accepted the decree about consolidate the districts of Olonetsky and Arkhangelsk provinces of regional association occupied by Karelians into the Karelian Labour Commune.
Celebrating the Day of the Republic will begin from placing wreaths and flowers on the Eternal Flame memorial complex in the centre of Petrozavodsk. The Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov, the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the republic Nikolay Levin, and other heads of region will take part in this solemn ceremony. In the evening at the Musical Theatre of Karelia ceremonial meeting and the celebratory concert is held. Veterans, representatives of labour collectives and intelligency will gather there. On tradition in the Day of the Republic the new honourable citizen of Karelia will be named.
