PETROZAVODK. /Correspondent of SPB-TASS Vladimir Zlobin/. Unique album Three Centuries of Petrozavodsk which contains 1700 various illustrations was published by Karelian publishing house Petropress. The book is devoted to the 300th anniversary of the capital of the republic. Its circulation is 3 thousand copies, weight of one book is 2 kgs.
Earlier unknown ancient pictures of city views, portraits of inhabitants of Petrozavodsk, documents are published for the first time in the album. Among illustrations there are 20 color cards made in 1915 by the imperial photographer Prokudin-Gorsky. Composers of the album widely used rare archival materials found both in the state storehouses, and in personal albums of aboriginals of the city.
The book tells about dynasties and ancient surnames of the townspeople, about well-known fellow countrymen. Among them there are governors, outstanding party figures, famous actors, artists, musicians, sportsmen. In this line there are former General Secretary of the CC of the CPSU Yury Andropov, linguist academician Phillip Fortunatov, poet Robert Rozhdestvensky, the world champion who won world competitions on shoothing 10 times Valery Postoyanov and others.
