The President is against wood auctions repeating the results of auctions in the fishing industry

PETROZAVODSK, July 22. INTERFAX - President Vladimir Putin at the meeting with representatives of timber industry in Petrozavodsk has supported effective and transparent development of the Russian timber branch.

The wood branch "should be transparent and effective." At the meeting various offers were made supposed "to be heard by the government at development of the package of documents regarding timber sphere," V.Putin has told.

He hopes that by the end of the year the offer concerning VAT repayment will be realized.

Besides as he said, "the more rigid approach to taxes on delivered equipment is correct." In this sphere, V.Putin has told, it is impossible to cripple domestic manufacturers, however if this equipment is not produced in the country, "this privilege can be granted."

Summing up the meeting V.Putin has supported necessity of development of timber sphere infrastructure. "We should develop the infrastructure, approach it to requirements of the branch, though it is important for business not to simply use the free-of-charge infrastructure," - V.Putin has told. "If the state pays, it should know what it will receive instead," - the president has emphasized.

He also has declared that the government will consider the problem of creation of national park or reserve at the Vallaam island.

During the meeting in Vilga nursery forest near Petrozavodsk its participants stated offers on struggle against illegal disafforestation, redistributions of incomes of penalties for this deforestation for the benefit of wood reproduction and timber enterprise employees, strengthening of law enforcement bodies' work, distribution of deforestation quotas on the basis of auctions.

Making comments on the latter offer, V.Putin has warned of the fact that the state of affairs regarding auctions in wood branch might repeat the results of auctions in the fishing industry, where as the president has told, the certain circles are interested only in receiving quotas for any price, and the main thing for them is to receive an access to the sea where they catch fish necessary for them.
