Problems of radical peoples of Russia and realization of the federal programs aimed to support national culture and education were discussed at the exit session of the All-Russian organizing committee on realization of the decade of radical nations of the world.
Minister of Federation, National and Migratory Policy of the Russian Federation Vladimir Zorin has held the session.
The Head of the Republic Sergey Katanandov, the Chairman of the LA of the RK Nikolay Levin, the deputy of the State Duma Valentina Pivnenko, the member of the Council of Federations Victor Stepanov, the chairman of the State Committee on National Policy Eugeny Shorohov, representatives of public organizations, experts of ministries and departments of Karelia, Vologda Leningrad regions have taken part in work of the organizing committee.

Vladimir Zorin has supported development of uniform complex approach to the problem of preservation of the people of Veps in places of their compact residing in Karelia.
Sergey Katanandov, speaking on the session of the organizing committee, has proposed the Veps people to participate in the process of revealing national consciousness, culture, and learning native language more actively. "Not only officials and experts are obliged to work for the sake of small peoples, but also Veps should participate in the process and use the opportunities. Attention of authority and public shopuld be drawn to the problems. If in three subjects (Karelia, Vologda, and Leningrad regions) we will find an opportunity to help Veps, and assistance programs will work, then we can also help other small peoples," - the Head of Karelia has noted.
The governments of Karelia, Vologda and Leningrad regions are offered to enter into the agreement on cooperation on preservation of ethnic originality of Veps. The public organizations working in the sphere of preservation of national Veps culture are recommended to create a federal national and cultural autonomy, and the bodies of the government of regions should support them. The organizing committee has made also the decision to address to the Government of the Russian Federation with the offer to include the areas inhabited by Veps in the list of territories of residing of small peoples of the north. It will allow to distribute the federal target program Economic and Social Development of Radical Peoples of the North Till 2011 to this nationality. To process all offers it was desided to address to the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the NWFD with the initiative to create the Advisory Council of Northwest of Russia on problems of harmonization of interethnic relations, national and cultural development, problems of radical small peoples and national minorities.
