The plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in NWFD Ilya Klebanov and the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov have discussed the results of social and economic development of Karelia in 2003.
The informal confidential meeting that was held in the office of the Head of the RK and lasted for about 40 minutes. Results of the meeting were observed at the session of the Government of the RK closed for mass-media.
Ilya Klebanov and Sergey Katanandov have considered prospects on increase of internal total product and investment appeal of the republic. Exchanging opinions on increase of wood branch management efficiency and solution of problems of interaction of federal structures controlling export operations became a special theme of conversation.
In Ilya Klebanov's opinion, when it becomes possible to increase wood complex management efficiency, then other industries will improve also.
Speaking further on this theme, Ilya Klebanov has recommended the Government of the RK to pay more attention to creation of large woodworking enterprises, attraction of investors, and creation of favorable conditions for their activity.
The Head of Karelia has informed the representative of the President of the Russian Federation on concrete agreements and results achieved in the wood-processing sphere in 2003, and also on Russian and foreign investments brought in the republic.
In turn, Ilya Klebanov has promised the republic support regarding aspects of preservation of northern extra charges and assistance in negotiations with the federal center on balancing of the budget of the republic.
