Karelia expects to involve new investors from the USA

RIA Novosti. Karelia expects to involve new investors from USA, as the Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov has declared in his interview to RIA Novosti. From June, 28 till July, 6 the first official visit of the Karelian delegation to the US with a view of presentation of investment opportunities of the republic is held.

"We hope to draw attention of new investors, to recover interaction, and, the most important, to strengthen confidence of correctness of the choice made among those in the USA and Canada who already works with us, and who are many," - the Head of the Republic has noted.

The delegation includes businessmen owning their enterprises. Forestry is the basic business in Karelia, it is 60% of its economics, Sergey Katanandov has explained. He has also noted that 5% of export from the republic goes to the USA, Americans have the third place among foreign investors on volumes of capital invested.

Replying why Karelia has decided to achieve attraction of investments from the USA, he has told: "We know very well that large investments and serious projects should be carried out with participation of large and serious firms which are certainly located in America, and the basic capital is here, too."

At the same time, Sergey Katanandov has expressed his hope that "negotiation in the US will involve not only large firms, but will give a pulse and to the average business being a basis of the American economics."

He has also noted that republican authorities figure on development of scientific cooperation with the American experts. As he said, the question is scientific development, construction of business centers and business incubators with the help of research centres and universities.
