Segezhsky Pulp-and-Paper Plant, the largest in Russia kraft paper and paper bags manufacturer, celebrates its 65th anniversary

PETROZAVODSK, July 8. /Correspondent of SPB-TASS Yuri Shleikin/. Karelian city of Segezha hosts great celebrations devoted to the 65th anniversary of its pulp-and-paper plant being the largest in Russia and in the world the manufacturer of kraft paper and extra-strong paper bags.

As the general director of Segezhsky Pulp-and-Paper Plant Open Society Vasily Preminin has told the SPB-TASS correspondent, workers of this enterprise where over five thousand persons work celebrate a memorial date at large-scale manufacture modernization. Today many of the visitors of the plant among whom there will is the Head of the republic Karelia Sergey Katanandov, will see the reconstructed paper-making machine N10 which has been started 30 years ago. According to experts, as a result of modernization this machine being a huge paper-making production line will become one the three best similar bag paper manufacturing machines in the world.

Now capacities of Segezhsky Pulp-and-Paper Plant allow to make up to 330 thousand tons of kraft paper per year, and by 2005 it is planned to achieve one third increase of manufacture. At the enterprise great attention is paid to social aspects, and its administration adheres to ideology of 'complete openness'. The average salary at this Pulp-and-Paper Plant makes over 7 thousand roubles.

Today the celebration will be arranged in honour of the best workers, opening of a memorial in honour of this significant date and a party will be held.
