A plant considerd now the largest in Russia manufacturer of kraft paper and paper bags was launched 65 years ago in Segezha. Segezhsky Pulp-and-Paper Plant has known different times, from foreign management to full stop and cannibalization of paper-making machines. Then, when enterprise had its hardest time, Sergey Katanandov being a candidate for the post of the head of Karelia has promised the citizens of Segezha to do the utmost for revival of manufacture as many respects of life in the city and district depended on Segezhsky Pulp-and-Paper Plant. Today about 5000 thousand citizens of Segezha work there.

Last year, due to the tripartite agreement between the Savings Bank of Russia, the Government of Karelia and Segezhsky Pulp-and-Paper Plant the agreement on allocation of the credit over ˆ400 million was signed. It has allowed to launch large-scale reconstruction and replacement of the out-of-date equipment and conversion training of the personnel. Modernization of manufacture will allow the plant to produce over 400 thousand tons of kraft paper per year from the next year.
The 65th anniversary of the plant is celebrated by start-up of the paper-making machine N10. This month the modernized machine will work at full power, therefore manufacture of bag paper will increase considerably. Sergey Katanandov spoke about it in shops to workers and engineers who accomplished this modernization.

"We are bag-worms (as the director general of the Pulp-and-Paper Plant Vasily Preminin has named himself and the personnel as a joke), and we remember what we had started with, when the enterprise did not have big prospects. Today our production is widely known and competitive. In honour of the 65th anniversary of the plant we open a memorial," - Vasily Preminin has told.
At the party the celebration was arranged in honour of the veterans who receive a very special treatment at the plant. With pride the veterans have visited the updated shops and have received memorable gifts.
By the 65th anniversary the famous publishing house Scandinavia issued a picture album about the history of the enterprise, the new exposition devoted to Segezhsky Pulp-and-Paper Plant has opened in the museum.
