On July, 31 in the nobiliary assembly hall of the Karelian State Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy the Agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Public Relations of the Republic of Karelia and the Committee on Culture of the Government of Moscow within the framework of the agreement in force between the Government of Moscow and the Government of the Republic of Karelia about trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was signed for the first time.
On results of the monitoring held by the Ministry of Economic Development of the RK, cooperation of the parties of the agreement in the field of culture could be evaluated as active. During its realization the Government of Moscow, in particular its Committee on Culture, assisted in development of celebratory scripts devoted to the 300th anniversary of Petrozavodsk. Within the framework of realization of the Golden Map project in June of 2003 in the Museum of the fine arts the exhibition from the collection of Tretyakov State Gallery was organized. In October of 2003 in Chaikovsky Music Hall a concert of the Symphonic orchestra of the Karelian state philarmonic society devoted to the 70th anniversary of the orchestra has been held. With assistance of the Committee on Culture of the Government of Moscow the national actor of Russia Vladimir Troshin and the national actress of Russia Ekaterina Shavrina have taken part in the concert devoted to the 60th anniversary of liberating Karelia from the German fascist aggressors.
The Ministry of Culture and Public Relations of the RK and the Committee on Culture of the Government of Moscow have made the decision to expand borders of cooperation and have agreed upon concluding the branch agreement on cooperation. Draft agreements on cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Public Relations of the Republic of Karelia and Committee on Culture of the Government of Moscow and the Program of Cooperation in the field of culture between the Ministry of Culture and Public Relations of the Republic of Karelia and the Committee on Culture of the Government of Moscow for 2004-2006 years are already coordinated. The agreement is aimed at expansion of mutually advantageous cooperation which would correspond to the interests of the population and promote preservation of uniform cultural space. The program of cooperation includes actions in the field of library science, development of film-service, theatre-concert and museum-exhibition activity, art education and aesthetic education, participation of the Moscow actors in celebrating the Day of the Republic in 2005, and other actions.
