On September, 14 His Royal Highness Prince Edward The Earl of Wessex has come to the republic with the official visit. The member of The Royal Family of the Great Britain has arrived by chartered flight London - Helsinki - Petrozavodsk. At a the plane ladder the honoured guest was greeted by the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov and members of the Government of the RK.
On behalf of the citizens of the republic and accompanying persons Sergey Katanandov welcomed Prince Edward.
The basic purpose of the visit of the Royal Family member is development of the international programme of personal development of young people in Karelia. Prince Edward has been this programme's patron for a few years. Youth of our republic accomplishes studies and personal development under the Award programme for three years .
Within four days Prince Edward and members of the delegation will get acquainted with life of the republic, visit museums, and go sightseeing in Petrozavodsk and Kondopoga.
Tonight Prince Edward and Sergey Katanandov will meet with the Award programme participants.
Sergey Katanandov and Prince Edward will visit the international scout camp and participate in the solemn ceremony of awarding the programme participants. Meetings in children's homes and higher educational institutions of the republic are also scheduled.
