PETROZAVODSK, September 15. /Correspondent of ITAR-TASS Yuri Shleikin/. The visit of Prince Edward, the member of the Royal Family of the Great Britain who is one of the patrons of the Award international programme of personal development to the Republic of Karelia proceeds.
On Wednesday, September 15, at the National Theatre of Karelia in Petrozavodsk Prince Edward and the Head of the Republic held the solemn ceremony of presentation of the programme and awarded about 50 teenagers and young people of Russia, Finland and Estonia in recognition of their high achievements within the programme.
Prince Edward said: "When I received such award I was one of many in the Great Britain, and you became the first in Russia. Though these awards are individual, all of you were distinguished in team work and have applied many efforts to achieve success."
In his speech the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov has noted: "We are glad that this program has come to Russia with the help of our friends from Finland. All of you are participants of the programme will not live an easy life, but we are sure that you will manage to cope with difficulties."
Petrozavodsk students Maria Kuznetsova, Anastasia Panova and Natalia Shugurova, as well as a guest from Finland Mirka Inkinen received supreme Golden awards.
In presence of all participants of the ceremony an agreement on cooperation for further development of the Award programme was signed by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia and the Award International Council.
Today, September 16, Prince Edward met with the students of Petrozavodsk State University and in the afternoon he will go the children's home in the town of Kondopoga.
