The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov arrived this morning to Karelia for a visit. The Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov and the Legislative Assembly of the RK Chairman Nikolay Levin met him at Petrozavodsk airport Besovets.

From the airport Sergey Lavrov proceeded to the Legislative Assembly of the RK where the conference devoted to frontier cooperation in Northwest of Russia is held today. Representatives of frontier regions of the Northwest, Committee on International Affairs of the Council of the Federation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Science, National Investment Council of the Russian Federation also take part in the conference. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will present his report On Cooperation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with Nongovernmental Organizations and Civil Society.
Besides, during the visit Sergey Lavrov's meeting with the Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov is scheduled, and during this day the Russian minister will also visit the presentation-exhibition center of the State Historical, Architectural and Ethnographic Museum Reserve Kizhi and will hold a press conference.
