NA REGNUM. The XXXIVth international sailing regatta of cruiser yachts "Onego -2005" is held by tradition by the Sailing Federation of Karelia and the Government of the republic on Onego lake on July, 20-31. As the NA REGNUM correspondent has been told in the organizing committee of the competition, this year participants of the regatta should overcome about 330 sea miles of open space of the second-largest reservoir in Europe. A race the most enthralling for the citizens and guests of the Karelian capital will pass in the water area of the Petrozavodsk bay of Onego lake and will open the competition. A race from the place of Shala to Petrozavodsk is expected to be the most long distance of the regatta, as its length will make 135 sea miles. The main prize of the competition is 200 thousand roubles.
