Thousand citizens and visitors of the republic became witnesses of the key summer sports event.
The XXXIV International sailing regatta Onego-2005 has taken off in the water area of Onego lake. More than 50 yachts of various classes have started to compete for the main prize of 200 thousand roubles founded by the Head of Karelia.
Addressing to the yachtsmen, Sergey Katanandov has told that Karelia managed to keep the sailing tradition: "From year to year competitions draw attention of high class professionals. The task of the citizens of Karelia is to make our republic attractive for sports and tourism, including water sports. The Onego regatta is both the event important for professional yachtsmen, and an occasion for all fans of active leisure to pay attention to open spaces of our most beautiful lake," - the Head of Karelia summarized.
