On August, 18th in the Government of Karelia the report of agreements on results of the visit of the Prime minister of Belarus Sergey Sidorsky to the republic has been signed.
First of all, the report means close cooperation of the parties concerning manufacturing, installation and commissioning of the technological part of the newprint manufacturing factory in the Belarus city of Shklov. Karelian Petrozavodskmash Joint-Stock Company became the general supplier of the equipment for the factory. Cost of the contract makes $36,8 million.
Conditions of possible deliveries of automobile and tractor equipment made in Belarus to Karelia for needs of mining and timber industries, agriculture, passenger transport, road and housing-and-municipal branches will be considered and carefully worked over. Creation of MAZ and MTZ official representative offices in the republic is possible.
Arrangements on cooperation in the sphere of extraction and processing of peat with which Karelia is rich in have been achieved as well. The Belarus party is ready to share technologies and equipment with the republic. The idea of creation of a joint venture is considered.
Some articles of the report concerned cooperation in the sphere of culture, and strengthening of business relations between businessmen of Belarus and Karelia.
According to the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov, "Direct contacts promote further development of cooperation of Belarus and Karelia. Visit of heads of such level testify to sincere interest of our partners to opportunities of our republic. We are interested as well in close economic contacts to Belarus is a reliable and responsible partner. Besides, we are glad to promote creation of uniform economic space of the allied states as together it will be easier for us to compete in the world markets." The Head of Karelia has thanked the visitors for coming and has emphasized, that the signed report is not the first, and, certainly, and not the last document promoting mutually advantageous development of cooperation between Belarus and Karelia.
In turn, Sergey Sidorsky has noted that Belarus today does not have any claims to quality of work of Karelian enterprises. Besides, according to Sergey Sidorsky, Belarus intends to provide Karelian industry with orders, to create new manufactures and, hence, new workplaces in the republic. In particular, after deliveries of buses and trolley buses to Karelia service centers can be created in the republic. "There is a good potential here, - Sergey Sidorsky has declared. - We can count on honesty and conscientiousness of Karelian partners."
Answering questions of journalists after signing the report, both the Heads have expressed their firm confidence that all the projects will be implemented.
