Session of Organizational committee for preparation for the Second Russian-Finnish Economic Forum

On September, 8th the in the Government of Karelia there took place a regular session of the Organizational committee for preparation for the Second Russian-Finnish Economic Forum to be held October, 3-4, 2006 in the city of Petrozavodsk. The forum is held by the Council of Federation of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Parliament of the Finnish Republic, Provincial government of Oulu. The forum organizers are Government of the Republic of Karelia and Council of Federation of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The Organizational committee for preparation of this important international event is headed by the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov who presided at the session.

As the Organizational committee participants reported, the Karelian is almost ready to receive the visitors. The model pattern of the Forum is known. Its basic events will develop on October, 3rd at the National Theatre where the Russian and Finnish heads, members of parliament, heads of regions, businessmen and representatives of university science will discuss the most important aspects of cooperation of the two countries. The second day is devoted to visiting of Petrozavodsk University where there will be held a session of the club of rectors of northern institutes of higher education on the following subject: University as a Kernel of Region Innovative Development and discussions of members of parliament of nordic countries of the European Union and Russia.
Lists of visitors are to be specified yet. For participation in the forum representatives of Russian and foreign business circles, members of parliament, heads of federal and regional enforcement authorities, experts, scientsts, and public figures are invited.
Among the forum cores there are: Russian-Finnish cooperation in the sphere of innovative technologies; cooperation in the sphere of power engineering; development of small and medium business; transport and logistics; inter-regional and frontier cooperation.
The extensive cultural program is also prepared for the visitors. As the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Public Relations Antonina Kamirova has informed, they will visit the exhibition center of Kizhiopen-air museum, the Petrozavodsk Doll House, the Palace of Arts and the Ice Palace of Kondopoga, Martial Waters sanatorium and museum, Kivatch falls and the village of Sheltozero. Folklore groups Kantele and Zoryaine and the National Theatre actors will perform their art.
