PETROZAVODSK, September 26. /Correspondent of SPB-TASS Sergey Kulikayev/. At the IX international Congress of Finno-Ugric Writers in Karelia its participants will discuss problems and ways of development of national literatures of small peoples of Russia. The congress starts on September 26 in the capital of Karelia.
As chairman the State Committee of the RK on National Politics Chairman Vladimir Lavrentiev told the SPB-TASS correspondent, for participation in the forum entitled Writer - Literature - Reader, to the northern republic there came more than 300 writers, scientists and literary critics, interperetors, journalists and public figures from 15 regions of the Russian Federation, and also from Hungary, Germany, Finland and Estonia.
According to the State Committee of the RK on National Politics Chairman, "the republic has been chosen a place to hold a forum so representative" as it has wide experience gained "in development of national literature of radical peoples of the region - Karelians, Finns and Vepsians", as well as in organization of publishing books in native languages. "Modern condition of national literatures of small peoples of the Russian Federation - Komi, Khanty and Mansy, Nenets, Saams, Udmurts, Mordvinians and others," - the minister has noted, - "causes proven anxiety in creative and scientific intelligentsia, therefore matters at the forum will first of all concern preservation and development of literary traditions, problems of distribution of books in languages of these peoples among indigenous population and support of creative youth."
During the congress its participants will visit schools and institutes of higher education of Petrozavodsk, museums and showrooms, will get acquainted with sights of Karelia.
