The Second Russian-Finnish Economic Forum in Petrozavodsk is over

Program of the Second Russian-Finnish Economic Forum concluded with a final press conference on October, 4th. The Federation Council Vice-Chairman Mikhail Nikolayev, the Governor of the Finnish province of Oulu Eino Siuruainen, and the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov addressed the journalists.

Sergey Katanandov has told, that over 300 representatives of science and business circles, bodies of government and local self-government of two countries have taken part in the forum. The forum overall objective is to establish constant contact between representatives of public organizations, authorities and business at the level of Russia and Finland.

Within the framework of the forum sessions of several debate tribunes took place. During discussions devoted to issues of Russian-Finnish cooperation in development of innovative economy, the parties discussed opportunities and prospects of cooperation of Russia and Finland in the sphere of innovations, new technologies in metal working, timber sector and communications. Og great interest at the session there were reports on subjects related to economy of settlements: local energy sources, investments into housing and communal services and housing construction.

The session devoted to Russian-Finnish cooperation in the sphere of logistics and transport has caused sharp discussions on development of transcontinental transport corridors. At the meeting various opinions of participants regarding evaluation of transit potential of northern regions of Russia have collided. Projects on formation of regional systems of logistics and their integration into international transport corridors have been announced and presented.

Russian-Finnish cooperation in the field of tourism was discussed at the session of the third debate tribune held in Petrozavodsk State University. During the session aspects of innovations in tourist business, scientific and personnel maintenance of tourism, joint experience of international cooperation of two countries in adjacent territories were discussed.

On October, 4th session of Club of rectors of Northern and Arctic institutes of higher education took place in Petrozavodsk State University on the subject of University as Core of Innovative Development of the Region. On results of work of the forum PetrSU has concluded two agreements on joint cooperation with the universities of Finland located in the cities of Laappenranta and Joensuu. Also two agreements of university on business commercial cooperation with the Finnish company of Metso Automation and St.-Petersburg company Veresk-1 for development of software have been signed.

Within the scope of the forum there have been prepared reports on intentions in the field of development of territorial systems of logistics and their integration into international logistical corridors; on cooperation of the innovative-technological center of the Russian Academy of Science with technoparks of the Finnish Republic; on creation of scientific and educational complex in the sphere of tourist industry with participation of Finland and regions of the Northwest of Russia.

At the forum there has been presented a new technology of protecting mobile phones from SHF radiations and other technological developments. Participants of the forum have held a number of business meetings and negotiations, planned ways of further cooperation.
