Dmitry Medvedev comes to Karelia

On July 17 President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev came to Karelia. In the Besovets airport Dmitry Medvedev was welcomed by the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwest Federal district Ilya Klebanov Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov and the Legislative Assembly of the republic Chairman Nikolay Levin.
The major goal of Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Karelia is holding sessions of the Presidium of the State Council of Russia in Petrozavodsk.
Presidium of the State Council meeting will concern implementation of the Strategy of information society development in Russia.
Presidium of the State Council includes heads of Tula, Vologda, Novosibirsk, Tyumen regions, the Chechen republic, Kamchatka and Perm territories. Heads of Karelia, Mordovia and Governor of Tver region will also take part in the session.
Vice-president of the Government of Russia Sergey Ivanov, Vice-president of the Government of the Russian Federation and Minister of Finance of Russia Alexey Kudrin, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina, Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Igor Schegolev, Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwest Federal district Ilya Klebanov and others will participate in work of the Presidium of the State Council. Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Karelia Nikolay Levin is also invited to the session.
Key reports at the session of the Presidium of the State Council will be made by the Governor of Tyumen region Vladimir Yakushev and Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Igor Schegolev. Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov will be also asked to speak.
It is no coincidence that Karelia has been chosen a place to hold the State Council for discussion of development of information society. Information technologies have been developing for a long time in the republic, they are used in the most various spheres of life. Petrozavodsk State University is rightfully considered one of еру IT-technology centers in the Northwest, access to Internet is provided in all schools of the republic, in telemedicine is developed in the V.Baranov Republican hospital, modern computer systems are widely used in bodies of the government, libraries, museums, institutions of culture and in the overwhelming majority of industrial enterprises of Karelia.
