On August 6 Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia Pavel Chernov has held a session of the working group on involvement of investments into economy of the republic. At the session two large projects on creation of new enterprises in regions of Karelia with about 1,8 billion roubles of total amount of investments have been considered.
Next year in Suojärvi region construction of the factory on production of saw-timbers for construction of low-rise frame houses within the scope of the Accessible Housing national project will begin. Capacity of the factory will make 100 thousand cubic metres of finished goods a year. Total amount of investments in this project makes about 800 million roubles. Start-up of the enterprise is planned for the first six months of 2010.
Another investor conducts designing the enterprise on extraction of building stone in Pitkäranta region. By now prospecting works are already performed, all necessary papers prepared and public hearings in nearby settlements are held. The project is approved both by local population, and institutions of local government. Total amount of investments into the project is estimated to make 1 billion roubles. Opening of the first quarry is planned for the IIIrd quarter of 2009. 3 more quarries open before 2011. All the four platforms will operate as a uniform industrial complex.
On results of the session members of the working group have approved the projects presented, and assistance in their realization will be rendered to the enterprises. On conclusion of members of the working group, both projects will favorably influence social and economic situation in the regions due to creation of new workplaces, increase in tax revenues in local budgets, development of power and transport networks.
