AWARD program in Karelia celebrates its 7th anniversary. Children of this age start going to school in Russia. First books, first discoverings, beginning of independent decision-making. Time of happy learning.
Only this tear the AWARD Association inter-regional youth movement felt ready to take responsibility for carrying out of the international project in Russia. Willing to show all the experience they'd gained in just one week term, organizers have started to prepare long before the event.
Initially purposes of camp were definite - desire to open depth of Russian customs to the invited delegations, development of interethnic dialogue, exchange of experience in implementation of the youth program. Besides, the year 2008 is declared the Year of Family. Traditions which pass from father to son, family values, language and culture of people are very important for every 'awardist' in Russia.
The Trust to the World youth project was aimed at acquaintance to cultures of different countries, development of understanding of traditions, tolerance, respect for differing peoples. Information session for leading instructors has allowed the adults working with youth voluntary to present experience of positive practices, master modern technologies of forming intercultural competence and civil identity of youth. Training master-classes in tolerance, water tourism and hiking, development of patriotism and social competences make a small part of programs capable of reflecting its content.
The first experience is the most important. It is a result of common way to the project and start of new discoverings on the way to perfection for everyone and all together. AWARD program in Russia is only learning to be independent and the Trust to the World project has inspired life and confidence of correctly chosen direction.
On August 14 the second stage of the project will start in Vyborg, where its participants will be delegations from Karelia, Leningrad, Pskov, Vologda, Murmansk regions and St.-Petersburg.
All participants gaining experience of trust to each other and to the world in the project could become true peoples' diplomats of Peace.
