Scheduled meeting of the Council of directors of travel agencies in which participated about 30 representatives of enterprises of tourist industry of the republic was held in the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia.
A few issues were on the agenda of the Council. In particular, participation of enterprises of tourist industry of Karelia in the VIIth republican specialized competition of tourist organizations and self-employed entrepreneurs Leaders of Tourist Industry - 2008 and Yu.Senkevich National Award federal competitions and the Leaders of Tourist Industry - 2008 annual international award.
Besides, the course of preparation for the Vacation - 2008 to be held in Moscow in September, INVETEX to be held in St.-Petersburg in October, and MATKA to be held in Helsinki next January international tourist exhibitions was discussed.
Another subject for discussion was preparation and carrying out of the actions devoted to the World Tourism Day. Karelian travel agencies and hotel enterprises were recommended to take more active part in specialized competitions aimed at support of development of internal tourism.
Basic tendencies and specificity of development of entrance tourism in the Republic of Karelia in 2008, changes in preferences of tourists, influence of external factors on dynamics of tourist visitings were considered at the Council.
Representatives of tourist and hotel organizations, Ministry of Economic Development of the RK discussed measures of government support to development of tourist complex of the republic which are necessary to take at preparation for the season of 2009. Offers made during the Council will be taken into account in 2009 at realization of the Development of Tourism in the Republic of Karelia through to 2010 regional target program.
