Immediate prospects of modernization of Segezha Pulp and Paper Plant in view of the best international experience were discussed by participants of the seminar on management of large investment projects in pulp and paper industry.
As the operating director of CBP division of Investlesprom holding Vasily Preminin has told in conversation with the ITAR-TASS correspondent, the started project is the largest in Karelia and in the branch and investment project that will allow Segezha Pulp and Paper Plant increase production volumes almost three times. The project assumes up to 800 thousand tons in a year increase in pulp cooking, as well as development of production of bleached sulphatic coniferous and deciduous pupl. To achieve this purpose there will be constructed a new pulp plant, and the second stage of modernization of paper-making machines N9 will be held. Two paper-making machines - the nineth and the tenth - will develop almost 300 thousand tons of high-quality sack paper.
Reconstruction department was founded in July at the Pulp and Paper Plant, substantiation of investment project, estimation of possible influence of the project on the environment are being studied now, and engineering researche is conducted. It is necessary to construct completely balanced production with use of advanced environment-safe technologies.
Production will include new modern fibre line with annual volume making up to 500 thousand tons of pulp cooking for bleaching, including 150 thousand tons of deciduous cellulose. The project will demand about €700 million of investments, recoupment of the project is expected in 6-7 years. Realization of the Polar Bear project gives prospect of production development in Segezha for the next 30 years.
Except for experts of Investlesprom holding, representatives of enterprises possessing experience in implementation of large investment projects in pulp and paper industry and power from Arkhangelsk, Vologda, St.-Petersburg, Moscow, as well as experts of the largest international companies Swego, Ìåtso, Andritz, Poyry, YIT, AF-Enprima (Finland) and GL-V (USA) participate in the international seminar in Segezha.
