Karelian customs published the Important to Know and Remember information booklet

Karelian customs published the Important to Know and Remember information booklet which contains information in Russian and Finnish languages on key rules of conveyance of goods across the border by natural persons, currency export/import regulations, transition of medicines, cultural valuables and other goods. The booklet also contains contact details of the Karelian customs, addresses of the customs posts, contact phones to call to complain or receive necessary information and consulting.

Booklets are offered free of charge at the customs post of Petrozavodsk Airport, at the multilateral automobile checkpoints (MACP) of Wärtsilä, Lyttä, and Suoperä.

This edition is a unique printed matter in Russia, intended both for Russian-speaking tourists, and for Finnish-speaking citizens. Petrozavodsk customs published a similar booklet In the Center of Foreign Trade of Karelia in 2005, and Service and Ñontrol in 2006, appreciated by the Federal customs service and citizens crossing the border. It is no coincidence, that experience gained in Petrozavodsk, is actively adopted by other customs of the Northwest. In 2007 booklets were published by Pskov customs – in Russian, Latvian and Estonian languages, by Murmansk customs – in Russian, Norwegian, English and Finnish languages. Recently interest in issuing such books was expressed by Kaliningrad regional customs.

– The booklet prepared by our experts confirms that Karelian customs officers intend to conduct active explanatory work among those who cross the border, are ready to cooperate with legislative participants of foreign trade activities and citizens, – chief of the Karelian customs Alexey Nakroshayev tells. – At the boundary check points there are information stands where explanation of the legislation are presented in Russian, Finnish and English languages. Besides, the information resource of the Karelian customs is always available through the Internet. We are convinced, that when citizens are being kept informed of requirements of the customs legislation it influences quality of customs procedures, observance of lawfulness, prevents possible offences.
