The 14th international exhibition-congress High technologies. Innovations. Investments in St.-Petersburg has come to the end on September, 25. The Ministry of Economic Development has prepared the Karelia the Innovative exposition which included 20 innovative development and projects of small innovative enterprises and scientific institutes of the republic.
- Our exhibits and projects, - the main expert of the Ministry Alexey Barkhatov who represented Karelia at the exhibition congress says, - was of great interest for visitors and scientific experts. We have received gold medals in three nominations. Besides, Karelian development were awarded with a silver medal and a diploma.
The Ministry of Economic Development was awarded with a diploma for organization of the collective exposition.
In The Best Innovative Project in the Field of New Materials and Chemical Products nomination the highest award went to the Nelan-Oxide, Ltd., for their development Nanodimensional membranes on the Basis of Aluminium Anode Oxide. They can be applied at filtering elements for ultrathin (micro-and nanometer) filtrations, in matrixes for nanoparticle synthesis, nanowires, and also at bacterial analysis by the method of fluorescent optical microscopy, and other areas. The enterprise engaged in developments in the field of nanotechnologies, is located in the business-incubator of the republic. Its scientific base is concentrated in the Karelian State Pedagogical University. The research is supervised by the Head of the Chair of Nanotechnologies, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences professor Natalia Yakovleva. This group has a number of other projects in the field of nanotechnologies which can be interesting for business, and introduced in production.

The Gold medal was awarded to the project of the Institute of Biology of Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Science Technology of Intensive Artificial Reproduction of Fresh-Water Salmon in the Pisto River of Kalevala Region. It is recognized the best in the Innovative Projects in the Field of Technologies of Alive Systems nomination. The technology was developed under direction of the Doctor of Biology Alexey Veselov. Now the project is at the stage of realization, due to financial support from the Applied Scientific Researches and Development item of the budget of the republic.
Another highest medal was awarded to Karelia in The Best Innovative Project in the Field of High Technologies of Mechanical Engineering nomination for development of the famous in he republic and in Russia the Engineering Centre of Fire Robots Technology. At the exhibition the innovative enterprise directed by Yuri Gorban has presented the automatic fire suppression device on the basis of a robotized fire complex. In the center's arsenal there are about 70 kinds of production of barelled fire equipment applied at fire suppression in many enterprises of Russia.

In The Best Innovative Project in the Field of Fuel and Power nomination silver medal was awarded to Energoresurs-STE, Ltd., for development of Stationary Thermal Receivers STE. This enterprise is also located in the business-incubator and has a number of developed innovative technologies in new generation of energy-resource-saving heating equipment. Director of the company Alexander Anisimov conducts hard work on introduction of his developments in practice.
Diploma of the prestigious exhibition was awarded to the development of Petrozavodsk State University Wireless Mobile Networks of Gauges that participated in The Best Innovative Project in the Field of Information Technologies and Electronics nomination. The presented demonstration model of this development was the focus of attention of visitors of the exhibition and has caused their great interest. Dring his conversation with developers of similar systems and potential consumers of gauges the project head, senior lecturer of PetrSU, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics Alexey Moshchevikin has established mutually interesting contacts.
Except for projects and developments experts of the exhibition paid steadfast attention to the Karelian exposition modules for water and air disinfecting on the basis of the ultra-violet induction lamps, Plazmothrone plasma device introduced in medical practice, technologies related to use of bioresources of the White sea, preparations for plant growing under conditions of Non-Black Earth Region and a number of other developments.
- The exhibition has revealed, - Alexey Barkhatov has noted, - that Karelian innovators possess developments worth of international recognition. The basic problem of their input is commercialisation of scientific research. Its solution is one of the tasks for the management.
