Russian Combat Sambo Chanpionship among juniors born in 1988-89 was held in Petrozavodsk on October 4. 97 sportsmen from 14 Russian regions have taken part in it. Karelia was represented by six fighters: Emil Mamedov, Roman Porval, Artush Asryan, Rashad Muradov, Rudolf Goryachikh, and Vasily Myattonen. Five of them are masters of sports in combat sambo.
At the competition opening vice-president of Combat Sambo Federation of Russia Alexander Ushakov welcomed the sportsmen. He has emphasized, that Petrozavodsk was chosen for holding the championship, as combat sambo develops here, and in recent years Petrozavodsk coaches have brought up many strong sportsmen. Alexander Ushakov recalled victory of our wrestlers in 2003. Then the Championship of Russia also passed in the capital of Karelia, and Maxim Antipov and Sergey Kamilov became champions there.
The State Committee of the RK on Physical Training and Sports Chairman Maxim Antipov welcomed the participants and wished success them all, especially Karelian fighters.
Our fighters have justified hopes of their coaches. Sportsmen have won 4 gold medals (Artush Asryan - 48 kg, Rashad Muradov - 68 kg, Emil Mamedov - 82 kg, Rudolf Goryachikh - 90 kg) and one bronze medal (Roman Porval - 74 kg). In the team classification Karelian fighters are on the second place. Only wrestlers from the Saratov area have bypassed them.
According to the Combat Sambo Federation Chairman Sergey Kamilov, sportsmen have achieved such results due to serious preparation: in summer they have participated in several sports camps and number of competitions.
On results of the Chanpionship a combat sambo combined team of Russia which includes five our sportsmen Emil Mamedov, Roman Porval, Artush Asryan, Rashad Muradovhave, and Rudolf Goryachikh has been formed.
