Representatives of Karelians, Veppsians and Finns of the Republic of Karelia to participate in the IVth ongress of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation

The VIth Congress of Karelians nominated Karelian delegates to the Congress of Finno-Ugric peoples of the Russian Federation

On September 24-26, at the support of the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation Saransk (the Republic of Mordovia) will host the IVth ongress of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation.

The first congress was held in May, 1992 in Izhevsk (the Udmurtian Republic) where it was decided to establish the Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation (AFUPRF). The second congress was held in August, 1995 in Kudymkar (the Komi-Permyatski Autonomous District). In 2005 thetre has been held the third Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples of Russia where Mikhail Mosin, Doctor of Philosophy, Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Mordovia State University named after N.Ogaryov was elected the Association Chairman. Chairlady of the Karelian regional branch of the Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation All-Russian social movement is Zynaida Strogalshchikova.

Now regions elect delegates to the IVth Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation. According to its quota, Karelia at the Congress will be represented by five Karelians, three Veppsians and three Finns.
