From June, 30 to July, 4 of this year for the second time Petrozavodsk will host the International Congress of Teachers of Physical Training. This year the event is held within the framework of the Year of Teacher anounced in Russia. A steering committee is established for its preparation and carrying out. Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov has signed a corresponding government order.
Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Valery Boinich is appointed the committee chairman. Structure of the steering committee provides for two deputy chairmen - Minister of Education of the RK Alexander Selyanin and Chairman of the State Committee of the RK on Physical Training and Sports Maxim Antipov. Aming the Congress organizers there also are heads and experts of ministries and departments of the republic and Petrozavodsk city administration, rectors of Petrozavodsk institutes of higher education, heads and teachers of educational establishments of the republic, experts of republican and city establishments of public health services, physical culture and sports, Head the Association of Teachers of Physical Training and Healthy Lifestyle of Finland, experts of the Karelian Fund for Education Development.
The first session of the working group took place on January 20. There members of the committee have made a plan of measures on preparation of the international congress. It is supposed that innovative approaches in the field of physical training and propagation of healthy lifestyle by means of physical training lessons in schools of Karelia will be presented this summer at the international congress. New for the congress will be extension courses for teachers of physical training that will be organized on the basis of Karelian State Pedagogical Academy. By graduation from the courses teachers will be granted international certificates.
It is necessary to remind, that in the summer of 2008 for the first time in Russia Petrozavodsk already hosted the International Congress of Teachers of Physical Training and Experts Propagandizing Healthy Lifestyle. Then instructors and teachers from Russia, Finland, Estonia, Canada, Italy, USA, Lithuania took part in it. Within the scope of the first congress sports events, exhibition performances of university students - masters of sports and winners of international competitions were held on sports bases of the capital of Karelia.
