Valentin Luntsevich, Acting Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia and Acting Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia has made a working trip to North Ladoga Lakeside.
Head of the economic office of the republic has visited a number of leading enterprises of the territory and has personally met with their management. Having got acquainted in detail with the state of affairs at the enterprises, Valentin Luntsevich has mentioned that as a whole investment processes have proceeded at the enterprises of Ladoga Lakeside – there are companies that become modernized and increase output. In June, 2010 Bumex Lahdenpohja Plywood Mill, Ltd., has produced 4427 cubic metres of plywood which 18 times exceeds the last year's similar period. This year Bumex intends to draw 100 million roubles of inversments. Ministry of Economic Development of the republic has entered into agreement with the enterprise concerning granting subsidies for partial reimbursement of credit interest expenses. During the conversation with the Bumex' s founder Valentin Luntsevich has paid attention to the necessity to find an opportunity to increase wages, as growth of incomes in the long term allows to make it.
Wärtsilä hardware plant JSC, primary taxpayer of Sortavala region, has also increased output. Since the enterprise has steady demand, the volume of production of the factory in the first six months has grown up to 57,000 tons, that is 40% in relation to the last year. "It is important for the region that the enterprise expands production, new workplaces are already created there," – Valentin Luntsevich has pointed out.
During the two-day trip meetings with heads of administrations of Pitkäranta, Lahdenpohja and Sortavala regions, as well as meetings with heads of towns and rural settlements have been held. The main issues Valentin Luntsevich discussed with heads of territories were implementation of investment projects, work of institutions of local government concerning creation of condition for small business developmen, socially economic situation in regions. Head of the economic office has stated a number of short-term priorities concerning all spheres of activity of the territory. Valentin Luntsevich said that in the near future he intends to visit all regions in Karelia to get personal opinion about the state of affairs in each of them.
