Within the framework of Karelian-Finnish project Development of National System of Basic Services of Occupational Hygiene, Improvement of Health and Prevention of Accidents in High Risk Sectors in the Northwest of the Russian Federation representatives of Karelia have visited Finland. The delegation included head of the medical aid department of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Republic of Karelia A.Mikhailov, director of the profpathology center of the republic, chief profpathologist of the Ministry S.Denisov, key specialist of the Ministry of Labour and Employment M.Ryzhikh.
The project organized by Professional Health Institute of Finland is implemented by its director general professor Harri Vainio and is directed on studying of interest and opportunity of using the model of basic services of occupational hygiene in the Republic of Karelia. Its purpose is exchange of experience concerning occupational hygiene, minimization of professional risk, creation of safe working conditions.
Seminars were held in the Professional Health Institute of Finland (Helsinki) and in the Regional Office of the Professional Health Institute (Kuopio), meetings were organized with heads of departments of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Finland. Karelian delegation has got acquainted with the system of organization of basic services of occupational hygiene in practice, learned Finland's experience in the field of professional health and security.
During negotiations the opportunity of further cooperation was discussed. It has been offered to launch a pilot project in territory of the Republic of Karelia concerning application of the model of basic services of occupational hygiene with subsequent evaluation of results and making specific proposals. The parties have expressed interest in joint participation in this project.
